Iron Man (2008)

Iron Man is the first Marvel superhero movie by Marvel Studios back in May 2008. Iron Man has grossed $585 million at the box office worldwide.

Iron Man is about the story and journey of Tony Stark, the billionaire industrialist and playboy and his alter-ego superhero Iron Man. Furthermore, the movie is about Tony Stark being ambushed and captured in Afghanistan by a terrorist group called the Ten Rings for Stark Industries lend the Jericho missiles manufactured by Stark Enterprises and so the deadly weapons falls into the enemy’s hands.

Also, the movie deals with Tony Stark’s relationship with his assistant and girlfriend Pepper Potts and Tony’s best friend, James “Rhodey” Rhodes and Obadiah Stane, Howard Stark’s colleague for many years. Later, Howard Stark passed away and Stane has taken over the Stark Enterprises and appointed CEO of the company.

The first Iron Man movie has incredible amount of action, dialogue, and tensed relationships between the characters. Also the movie has some emotional scenes at the beginning and towards the end which is important for the story to move forward.

Moreover, I think that the first Iron Man movie has a lot of explosive action scenes, dramatic emotional scenes, comical humor, and a great story by director Jon Favreau (Elf, Zathura) who directed the first Iron Man and Iron Man 2 in 2010.
I think that Jon Favreau is a perfect director for a comic book superhero movie like Iron Man because he knows the world of Tony Stark very well. Also he is so passionate and committed to Iron Man universe which has propelled the movie very nicely. Also Favreau is an actor as well and so I think he is a perfect candidate for Iron Man director job.

Furthermore, Favreau has assembled great talented actors such as Robert Downey Jr. for the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man, Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane/Iron Monger, Gwyneth Paltrow as Virginia Pepper Potts, Terrence Howard as Col. James Rhodes aka Rhodey and Shaun Toub as Yin-Sen who are all gifted and talented to be a part of Favreau’s Iron Man movie.

Overall, I think the first Iron Man movie is all about the evolution and personal/heroic journey of Tony Stark which sets the tone throughout the movie in the right direction. I think the key elements for the first Iron Man’s success is about the story, the characters, and self-discovery within one’s heart which makes the movie so appealing and satisfying for Marvel fans, or specifically Iron Man fans.
