The
Incredible Hulk (2008)
The Incredible Hulk is the second Marvel superhero
movie after the initial success of 2008’s Iron Man movie produced and
distributed by Marvel Studios. The
Incredible Hulk is about a scientist turned fugitive man Bruce Banner (Edward
Norton) who tested the gamma radiation on himself but the experiment turned out
very wrong and Banner eventually transformed into a giant green goliath, The
Hulk. Bruce Banner is now on the run from the U.S. government and the army under
the command of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (William Hurt) is determined
to hunt and track Banner down by any means necessary and to use something out
of Banner as a weapon for the army. Also Banner still has a connection with his
long love interest with Dr. Elizabeth “Betty” Ross (Liv Tyler), the daughter of
General Ross. She is a chemist and expertise in physics.
Also, Banner came into contact with a powerful enemy
and deadly nemesis, Emil Blonsky, a soldier recruited by General Ross to fight
Banner/Hulk and track him down. Later in the movie, Blonsky used Banner’s blood
sample and is transformed into a hideous and powerful foe of the Hulk, the
Abomination, who has similar super strength and agility as the Hulk.
The
Abomination has sharp spikes down his spine and muscular body structure. Later
the Abomination and the Hulk face off and have their epic colossal battle
showdown in the streets of Harlem in New York City.
Also in the movie Banner is trying to find a permanent
cure for his symptoms of his gradual transformation into the Hulk and with the
help of his secret contact codenamed Mr. Blue aka Dr. Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake
Nelson) Banner managed to solve his gamma radiation effect to another level.
Furthermore, Banner is trying to figure out how to
stop or even get rid of the remaining cure that he has inside his body
permanently until at last he succeeded. Also Banner does not to control the the
Hulk inside him but to get rid of it instead.
Also, the movie has a lot of explosive action scenes
as well as some humor and emotional elements. The music is well played
throughout the course of the movie. The cast are great in their respective
roles. The visual effects are good but it could be a lot better and more
improved. The climatic Hulk and Abomination battle is stunning and jaw-dropping
visually. Also the colossal fight scene
between the two behemoths, the Hulk and Abomination is a very powerful scene to
behold for any Hulk fan to watch this epic final showdown in the movie.
The Incredible Hulk is directed by Louis Leterrier.
The movie has a great cast including Edward Norton as Bruce Banner/The Hulk,
Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, William Hurt as General Ross, Tim Blake Nelson as
Samuel Sterns and Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/the Abomination.
